My one arrived today, it's just clear smokey vinyl too.
Ynonno
In the UK it's now "Smokey black swirl" WITHOUT ANY WHITE !!!
Moralsa
Black swirl my ass... Mine is milky white. Not even a speck of black
Whilingudw
Mine is white with one black smudge. The UK of this release now has no white at all in it and is now advertised as "Smokey black swirl".....
Golden Lama
It's sad if someone is trying to make a profit off this album. It's not even a real black swirl on practically all the records. Last thing a real fan or collector wants or needs who is really trying just to own a copy is some jerk trying to upsell it 100+ dollars.
Jogas
In the UK it now has no white at all and it's now sold and advertised as "Smokey black swirl".....
Yananoc
Clear vinyl with a speck of black.....mine doesn't look any better than what's pictured here. Looks nothing like advertised.
Mitynarit
Mine is white with 1 black smudge. It was advertised as "Clear / white / black swirl" and now people received..... "Smokey black swirl" WITHOUT ANY WHITE ! The site has now been adjusted and now it's sold as "Smokey black swirl"..... What a mess......
Freighton
Neither does my copy! Semi-clear vinyl (Milky white) with just a slight black splatter at 11 O'clock. The sound quality on my copy is very nice though.

Any info about the number of this pressing? 2,500? maybe more/less?

This is not the place for this, sounds like you need to message a seller directly.

NEED TO TALK ABOUT KISS MEXICO WHEN YOU HAVE A CHANCE...
Talrajas
Got the same one. Printed in 1974 according to label.
Gardall
It even says so on the top left corner of the back cover.
EROROHALO
Great sounding reissue, all things considered. A lot of texture and separation, while revealing, actually contributes to the raw, innocent KISS, when they genuinely rocked.
SING
I have to agree with the previous comment, great sound on this release, interesting enough, the mp3 voucher is in 320 kbps and seems to be taken from the vinyl mix, not the cd mix from 1997 (that I own too) which, as far as I know, was the latest remaster done at the time of the release of this LP. I'm not good with Kiss trivia so anyone having better info is more than welcome.
JOGETIME
Honoured cityboyfaza, be so kind as to decide, you have on your photo an American edition with 10 tracks, and in tracklist 9. Where is the truth about this publication?
Not-the-Same
Release's year (1985) is writtem at the bottom of the back cover.

I was astonished to read that unnumbered 12" picture discs of Kiss (Netherlands only / 13 different 12" Picture Discs) are counterfeits and the numbered ones are the real stuff. To my knowledge this is a fairytale. Some time ago I visited the widow of the owner of the company who manufactured the picture discs for Phonogram. She showed us a small stock of some leftovers and some items were numbered and others were not. The only logical conclusion for me is that the unnumbered ones can not be counterfeits, since they were manufactured in the same run and at the same moment in the same factory as the numbered ones. Maybe the unnumbered ones are even more rare than the numbered ones(?), because that run was up to 1500. The unnumbered ones were probably left-overs. The machine kept going and did not stop right after 1500 (or before # 0001) , so probably less unnumbered ones.

It's crazy to believe that this uninspiring release would spawn one of the most iconic and legendary rock bands in history. Though, what Kiss would lack in memorable hits they certainly made up for in marketability. Admittedly, I've always had a soft spot for the band. In fact, it was their 'Destroyer' album that changed the life of 12 year-old me back in 1999 when it introduced me to rock music. So going back to the bands early albums has sadly failed to live up to expectations. Not that there really were any expectations to begin with, mind you. Kiss have always had a penchant for dumb, womanizing, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll anthems, but their biggest trait has always been their image and their ability to sell products. Especially when their early albums were as lacklustre as this one.Featuring ten tracks that top in at 35 minutes, 'Kiss' is a very raw release that is very straight forward and to the point. Songs about women, partying, drinking and more partying is the name of the game, but none of these songs are as noteworthy as the groups later material. If I had to be generous, 'Strutter', 'Cold Gin' and 'Let Me Know' are alright, but pale in comparison to albums like 'Destroyer', 'Love Gun' and 'Creatures of the Night', and considering a lot of the other rock bands that were around in 1974, it's not hard to imagine where this band would be right now if not for their iconic face paint and stage shows.Still, it's Kiss. How can you be mad at them?

It is so popular to reissue old records today, but do they make them an exactly copy of the original one?Like on this first Kiss record, are there any help in the line "This label design is exclusive for this release." if they re-produce that as well?I have both the first and second pressing of this album, but I kind of wonder.....?
Galubel
For all those who don`t know, this is the first version of this album that was printed in Germany ! The EMI/Electrola Releases did not include this Album.
Thomand
Brilliant cd the sound is amazing much better than remaster
MisterQweene
I've got a version printed in 1974. This is not listed. How come?
Rose Of Winds
Should this really be part of the Grateful Dead discography? It's just a misprint and clearly not something the band deliberately released. If this is on Casablanca, then I think it should only be in the KISS discography.
Gathris
My copy is Uk press, white label, with side A and side B written on matrix
Runeterror
There are variations of this pressing that list Kissin' Time on the LP label and have it pressed on the vinyl. Also have Kissin' Time listed on the LP label and not pressed on the vinyl. And doesn't list Kissin' Time on the label, but has it pressed on the vinyl.
Villo
This press contains a live version of 'Nothin' To Lose' instead of the studio recording.

A decent debut album, but I stand as saying it's not the best Kiss record to introduce yourself to the band with. While the live show staple "Strutter" is present as the album's opener, most of this disc feels like filler. "Deuce", and "Black Diamond" are some other highlights, but overall I prefer the group's sophomore effort to this one. But like any Kiss record, it's simple good (sometime's stupid) hard rock fun, and that's always enjoyable to me. And a must if you're a Kiss fan who favors the original lineup.6/10.

The very first studio album by American "shock rock" band KISS. Released in 1974 this album is filled with songs that have remained staples in the band's set lists and the countless compilation albums that have come in the later years. "Deuce", "Strutter", "Black Diamond", "Cold Gin", "Firehouse" they're all here in this first album. Even songs like "Nothin' To Lose" and "100,000 Years" are lesser known to casual fans but still remain fan favourites to the die hards. Even the songs "Let Me Know", "Love Theme From KISS", and "Kissin' Time" (a cover of the old Bobby Rydell song which the band reluctantly recorded at the insistence of their management as a promotion for a kissing contest) are great. The band's talent as musicians shows on this album as well. Ace Frehley's guitar solos and Peter Criss' drumming in particular being the best examples. The songs stand the test of time, however the production is the only thing that lets this album down slightly. While the aforementioned songs are great they don't compare to the versions heard on Alive! a couple of years later. The album proves that KISS were always a hard rocking guitar based band from the very beginning but doesn't quite capture the heaviness that was present in these songs when the band blasted them out in the bombastic stage shows. The guitars are too clean and the tempos are a bit too slow. This may be the reason why this album didn't sell very well when first released (however, sales picked up quickly a couple of years later when KISS were at the height of their popularity). As a whole this a great album and an enjoyable listen. Highly recommend to all KISS fans and even fans of rock music in general.

If you are looking for "a better sounding KISS album" off of the reissues 2014 this is the one to get.Very rich - and I am not the only one saying this.
Kage
Because of the similarity with the german SS symbol from World War II.
Zargelynd
Why was the thunderbolt KISS logo censored in Germany?
Stan
I may be wrong, but I beleive it is because the S's look too much like the old Nazi SS logo.
Olwado
Maybe because of the shape of the last two letters? (SS)
Madi
I was going to answer that, find out it was already answered, it's pretty obvious to me that it looked too much like the "SS" symbol.
Hra
Oh, I get it now. Thanks!
Kitaxe
The reason why the thunderbolt KISS logo was censored in Germany was because the logo looked too much like the Nazi Swastika symbol from Nazi Germany, and they thought it would offend Germans.
Kerahuginn
More than likely because the shape of the "SS"bore too close a resemblance to the symbolism of the Nazi regime.
