John Williams (4). Jaws - Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ‎(LP, Album). The Soundtrack is a stunning symphonic achievement and a great leap ahead in the revitalization of film music as a foreground component for the total motion picture experience. He has accomplished on "JAWS" what Korngold did for "The Sea Hawk" and Bernard Herrman for "Psycho". Simply, he has made our movie more adventurous, gripping and phobic than I ever thought possible. Right up there with Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss and 7,000 pounds of hungry shark, John Williams' musical vision plays a leading role.

Music from the Motion Picture is an album by 10,000 Maniacs. The album, their first full-length in 14 years, contains eleven original songs. This album is the first to feature guitarist Jeff Erickson since he took over for Robert Buck following his death in 2000, and the first Maniacs album to feature Mary Ramsey without her longtime music partner, John Lombardo.

In a career that's spanned five decades, composer John Williams has scored fewer than five Westerns, which-judging from his exemplary work on this 1972 score for director Mark Rydell's story of a tough veteran cowpoke (John Wayne) helping to bring a group of inexperienced young hands to manhood on a cattle drive-seems something of a shame. Williams offers up a robust, brassy score that leans heavily on the same prime Aaron Copland influences that informed Elmer Bernstein's Magnificent Seven and Jerome Moross's The Big Country. One of the last scores to have an overture and intermission music, The Cowboys is unique in closing out an era where those two items were considered a necessary part of the motion picture experience.
