The young Georg Solti conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in two of his specialties: the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D Major, O. 1 played by Mischa Elman and Haydn's Symphony N. 02. They are exemplary performances with that urgency typical of the youthful Solti. Later in the collection he conducts more Haydn, a pair of Mozart symphonies, and some brilliant Bartok and Kodaly.

The Piano Concerto No. 5 in E♭ major, Op. 73, by Ludwig van Beethoven, popularly known as the Emperor Concerto, was his last completed piano concerto. It was written between 1809 and 1811 in Vienna, and was dedicated to Archduke Rudolf, Beethoven's patron and pupil.
